The Clinton Herald Thelma C. Dierks, 88, of the Sarah Harding Home in Clinton died Wednesday at Mercy North Hospital in Clinton. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Pape Funeral Home with the Rev. Frederick Lubs officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, John Gool II, Jennifer and Frank Eaton, Jay Gool, and Russell and Mitchell Chase. She was born July 2, 1912, in Clinton to John and Catherine Diehm Gifford. She married Harold Dierks on March 7, 1934, in Clinton. He died in 1993. She attended Clinton schools. She and her husband operated the family farm west of Clinton until retiring and moving to Clinton. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Survivors include her two daughters, Mrs. Connie (Jack) Chase of Clinton and Mrs. Donna (John) Gool of Jonesboro, Ga.; five grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; and a brother-in-law. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a son, two sisters and two brothers. Death date: May 16, 2001.
