The Clinton Herald Wednesday March 10, 1926 p. 8 Funeral services for the late Peter Ehlers, 221 South Fourth street, who passed away Tuesday afternoon at 1:45 o'clock, will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the family home. The Rev. Carl Hesse, pastor of St. John's Lutheran church will officiate. Mrs. H. P. Fischer and Mrs. Harry Eaton will be the signers. Interment will be in Oakland celetery. Peter Ehlers was born April 4, 1859, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, and was sixty-six years of age at the time of his demise, which followed an illness of two weeks duration. Influenza was the cause of death. Mr. Ehlers was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hans Ehlers pioneer residents of this county. He came to America with his parents when nine years of age, and settled on a farm west of Lyons. He was united in marrage to Miss Anna Naeve, May 8, 1885 in this city. They resided on the Ehlers homestead west of Lyons, until thirteen years ago, when they moved to this city. Five children were born to the union. Two sons passed away in infancy and a daughter Mary Ehlers Eggers, died in 1911. Surviving him are his bereaved widow, one daughter, Mrs. George Waldorf, and one son, Ferdinand Ehlers of this city; five grandchildren, Angeline Eggers, Ronald and Vernon Waldorf, Gilvert and LaVonne Ehlers ond one sister, Mrs. Anna Eggers of Clinton. Mr. Ehlers enjoyed a wide acquaintance in this vicinity and was highly respected by all who knew him. He was a member of the German association, and always took an active interest in its activities.
