The Clinton Herald Monday March 28, 1977 p. 10 A Clinton man was killed in a traffic accident late Saturday afternoon. Larry Eggers, 40, Route 3, was thrown from his car after it rolled over three times and he was later pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital. The accident occurred about 6:45 p.m. on the U.S. 67 detour one mile north of Iowa 136. Sheriff Gary Mulholland said Eggers had apparently lost control of his car as it rounded a curve and started to skid sideways when he tried to get the car back on the road. The auto then flipped and rolled, throwing Eggers from behind the wheel and he was found 90 feet north of the wreckage. The funeral for Mr. Eggers will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Faith Lutheran Church, Andover, with the Rev. Harvey Grote officiating. Burial will follow in the Andover Cemetery. Visitation is 2 until 9 p.m. Monday at Shadduck-Cannon Funeral Home and will continue at the church from soon until funeral time Tuesday. Pallbearers are Richard Eggers, Kevin Eggers, Jim Ralston, Walter Schroeder, Robert Eberhart and Mark Brandenberg. He was born Oct. 26, 1936, the son of LeRoy and Isabelle Naeve Eggers in Clinton. He graduated from Miles High School in 1955. On June 16, 1957, he married Phyllis Miller at Sabula. He was a farmer and also worked at the Ralston Purina Co. plant in Clinton. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church council, Local 373 of the Grain Millers union, and was a past member of the Andover Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his widow; two daughters, Carla and Sandra, and a son, Kenneth, all at home; his parents; and a sister, Mrs. Walter (Connie) Koehn, Clinton.
