Ralph Eggers 01/01/2002 CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for Ralph Eggers, of Clinton, formerly of Andover, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Lyon's United Methodist Church, Clinton. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery with military rites conducted by Clinton AMVETS Post 28. Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig-Dennis A. Lemke Funeral Home & Crematory, Clinton, and 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Mr. Eggers died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at Mercy Medical Center-North Campus, Clinton. Ralph Henry Eggers was born Nov. 6, 1922, in Andover. He married Barbara C. "Bobbie" Coburn in 1945 in Jacksonville, Fla. Ralph retired from Clinton Corn Processing Co., Clinton, after 27 years. He also was employed at Kent Feeds, Teeds Grove. During his earlier years, Ralph had farmed on his father's farm for six years. He also had served two consecutive terms as mayor for the City of Andover in the 1970s. He was a veteran of the Pacific Theater during World War II, serving as Seaman First Class USNR in the Navy from Jan. 26, 1944, until he was honorably discharged on Jan. 23, 1946, at Great Lakes, Ill. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include his wife, Barbara "Bobbie", Clinton; sons, James Eggers, Stanley Eggers and Jeffrey Eggers, all of Clinton; seven grandchildren; and brothers, Robert Eggers and Richard Eggers, both of Clinton, and George Eggers, Andover.
