The Clinton Herald Monday December 10, 1970 p. 10 John J. Eggers, 76, of Andover, died Sunday in the Crestridge nursing home in Maquoketa. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Faith Lutheran Church of Andover. The Rev. Lee R. Mentink will officiate. Burial will be in the Andover cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the grave site. Visitation will be at the Miller funeral home in Preston after 2 p.m. Tuesday. The body will be taken to the church at noon on Wednesday. Pallbearers will include Ben Tietjens, Harold Behrns, Wayne Mackeprang, Earl Rittmer, Ernest Eggers and John Smith. Mr. Eggers was born June 5, 1894 in Elk River Township, the son of Henry and Helena Stoltenberg Eggers. He married Rosa Jess, Jan. 18, 1922, in Clinton. The couple had farmed near Teeds Grove until moving to Andover in 1947. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, a World War One veteran, serving in France, and a member of the Spencer-Cook American Legion post. Survivors include his widow; four sons, Ralph H. and George A., both of Andover, Richard A. of Teeds Grove and Robert of Elvira; 15 grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Carl (Lillian) Lange of Andover, Mrs. Leslie (Alta) Struve, Mrs. Kamm (Vernetta) Smith and Mrs. Arnold (Viola) Struve, all of Hauntown and three brothers, Albert and Edward, both of Teeds Grove and herman of Hauntown. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
