SERVICES: 11 a.m. graveside service Tuesday at Evergreen Cemetery, Sabula, with the Rev. Robert Krueger, pastor of Calvary Lutheran Church, officiating.
SABULA — Avelda “Vel” L. Grove, 83, of Sabula, died Thursday at the Eagle Point Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Clinton.
She was born Oct. 14, 1922, in Miles to Arthur and Sarah Johnson Marburger.
She attended Sabula area schools.
She married Chester E. Grove Jr. on April 8, 1939, in Des Moines. He died in 1996.
She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and VFW Auxiliary, Sabula.
Survivors include one daughter, Sally (Merle) Carter of DeWitt; one son, Chester E. (Helen) Grove III of Des Moines; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Maxine Davids of Sabula; and one brother, Eddie Marburger of Sabula.
Memorials may be made to Eagle Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in her name.
