The Clinton Herald Thursday August 25, 1977 p. 14 Claus A. Eggers, 96, 2545 Camanche Ave., died this morning at Jane Lamb Hospital. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Shadduck-Cannon Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Winston Wessel, Waldo Mommsen, Lafayette Kruse, Curtis Young, Peter Eggers and Raymond Eggers. He was born Oct. 23, 1880, in Clinton County to Peter and Anna Ehlers Eggers. He attended Clinton County schools. He married Julia Svendsen on Dec. 27, 1910, in Bryant. He later married Rose Marburger in December 1945, in Chicago, Ill. He farmed in the Andover area and later moved to Clinton. Survivors include one son, Harold A., Houston, Tex.; one daughter, Lydia Eggers, Andover; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Myrtle Caldwell, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Harley (Ameda) Wright, San Clemente, Calif., and Mrs. Leona Witte, Houston, Tex.; a step-son, James Marburger, San Clemente, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and one brother, Herman, Clinton. He was preceded in death by his wives, one daughter and two sons.
