The Clinton Herald Saturday October 5, 1946 p. 8 Mrs. Hans Eggers, 66, well known life-long resident of Clinton county, died of a heart ailment early Friday afternoon in her home at 2224 Pershing boulevard. She had been ill for 12 days. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church following a family prayer at 1:30 p.m. in the Shadduck funeral home. The Rev. Paul H. Burgdorf, pastor, will officiate, and interment will be in Oakland cemetery. The body reposes in the funeral home. Emma Joens was born March 12, 1880, in Hampshire township, the daughter of the late Peter and Anna Joens. She was baptised and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of St. John's Evangelical church. She married Hans Eggers in Clinton, Feb. 17, 1904, and the family made their home on a farm north of Clinton until 1940 when the retired and moved to Clinton. Surviving are her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Erma Jorgensen, Cedar Rapids; four sons, Clifford, Peter and Raymong, all north and west of Clinton, and Leonard of Preston; two brothers, Claus Joens, 512 Main avenue, and Hans Joens, near Clinton; two sisters, Mrs. Adolph Andersen, 816 Buell avenue, and Mrs. Otto Gradert, 514 South Ninth street; eight grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mrs. Eggers was preceded in death by one son, Edward, in April, 1931; three children, in infancy; one sister, Mrs. Julius Schoel, and two brothers, Peter and John Joens. Olive branch, Rebekah lodge 36, will meet at the northend Odd Fellows hall at 7:30 p.m. today and will go in a body to the funeral home to pay their respects.
