Philip Warren Strehle

Philip Warren Strehle, 81, passed away July 5, 2006 at the Alverno Health Care Facility. Funeral service will be 1:00PM, Monday, July 10, 2006 at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel, 2600 Lincolnway, Clinton. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Sunday, July 9, 2006 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery, with military honors by the AMVETS. Pallbearers will be Alex Strehle, Ryan Strehle, Jerrad Strehle, Darin Hoeness, Gail Koobs and Keith Koobs.

Philip Warren Strehle was born November 26, 1924 in Omaha, NE to John Edward and Eva (Zeiger) Strehle. He graduated from St. Joseph School in Omaha, NE. He married Margaret Koobs on February 13, 1948 in Clinton. She preceded him in death in December of 2003. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving during World War II, from 1943-1946 as a gunners mate aboard a crash rescue boat in the South Pacific. Philip retired from E.I. Dupont where he was a millwright for 45 years. He enjoyed volunteering at the Red Cross and church, he also enjoyed woodworking, hunting and gardening. He was a handy man and a jack of all trades.

Survivors include two daughters, Cassandra (David) Wilcox of Des Moines, IA and Kristi (George) Knight of Tampa, FL; one son, Kendall (Debbie) Strehle of Clinton, IA; three grand-daughters, Lucia (Darin) Hoeness, Leigh Davis and Whitney Strehle and three grandsons, Jerrad, Ryan and Alex Strehle, seven great grand children; two brothers Robert (Sally) Strehle of Sommerville, AL and Frank (Josephine) Strehle of Chula Vista, CA.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two sisters, two brothers and one granddaughter.

Memorials contributions may be made to the Alverno and Gateway Baptist Church.
