DAVID A. BREEN, age 76, of Clinton, died Thursday June 29, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center, North Campus.
Funeral Service will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday July 6, 2006, in the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton, with the Rev. Michael Brewer, Pastor of New Hope Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery with military rites accorded by the William L. Forsee AMVETS Post #28 of Clinton.
Pallbearers will be members of St Edward Council #707, Knights of Columbus, Earl Farrell, Jim Krava, Pat McClimon, Richard Steele, Charles Horner, Loras Ernst.
Visitation will be from 3-8 P.M. Wednesday at Pape Funeral Home.
He was born June 19, 1930 in East Chicago, IN. The son of Charles C. and Ruth Allison Breen. He married JoAnne Andresen in 1956 in Clinton, IA. She passed away in 1993.
He had been employed as a journeyman machinist at Clinton Corn Processing Co. in Clinton for over 25 years before his retirement in 1980. He and his wife founded Gateway Marble Products in 1976 and retired in 1990. He had been a volunteer with Nee-Hi’s serving as chaperone, bus driver and chief mechanic. He was a member and Past Commander of the William L. Forsee AMVETS Post #28. He had been a member and Past President of the Clinton Lions Club, the Clinton Builders Club, and the National Marble Manufacturers Association.
He had a lifelong love of the river and boating.
He was a Veteran of Korean War, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He is survived by his daughter Susan L. Breen-Held and her husband Steve Held and granddaughters Ellen, Megan and Cara of Des Moines, IA., daughter Connie A. Vulich and her husband Mark Vulich of Clinton and special friend Alice Pringle of Clinton, IA.
He was preceded in death by his wife and one infant daughter.
