Kenneth D. Montgomery

Kenneth D. Montgomery, age 80 of Clinton, died Friday, June 30, 2006 at his home. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2006, 11:00 AM at Prince of Peace Parish - St. Mary’s Church. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3 - 8 PM at the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Clinton. Casket bearers will be grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Memorials may be given to Prince of Peace Parish or Mercy Hospice.

Kenneth was born on April 17, 1926 in Clinton, IA, the son of Kenneth M. and Catherine (Clark) Montgomery. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1944 and following WWII, he graduated from St. Ambrose College in Davenport. Kenneth served with the U.S. Army in military intelligence from Nov. 1944 to Nov. 1946. His campaigns included the Southern Philippines where he received the Asiatic Theater Ribbon with Bronze Battle Star and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Battle Star. He served with the Army Reserves from October 1946 to August 1949. Kenneth married Gertrude (Trudy) Kinney on September 20, 1947 in St. Mary’s Church, Clinton. Kenneth was employed with A.C. Nielsen in Human Resources until his retirement in 1987. Kenneth was a member of Prince of Peace Parish. He served as General Chairman of the 1964 United Fund, and was President of the United Fund Board of Directors in 1967. Kenneth was the President of the Chamber of Commerce in 1969 and he was currently serving on the St. Mary’s Cemetery Board. Kenneth enjoyed golfing, history and his grandchildren.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Trudy; twelve children, Linda (Michael) Ronek of Hamilton, OH, James (Kelly) of Clinton, Deborah of Clinton, Tom (Laura) of Ankeny, IA, Tim of Yorkville, IL, William of Chicago, Patrick (Jill) of Bettendorf, IA, Sean of Aurora, IL, Mary of Ankeny, IA, Robert of Des Moines, Patricia (Dave) Mallary of Cordova, IL and David of Clinton; 23 grandchildren 3 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Tom (Barb) Montgomery of Peoria, IL and Richard Michael Montgomery of Columbus, OH. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, a son, Kevin in 1993 and a sister.
