Charley W. Morgan

Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Pape Funeral Home, Clinton.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. today at the funeral home.

CLINTON — Charley W. Morgan, 81, of Clinton, died Friday at his home.

Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery with military rites by the AMVETS.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Jason Weller, Stephen and Aaron Betts, Robert Rice, John Else and Ben Lauritzen.

He was born June 14, 1924, in Des Moines to Clifford and Wilda Gandy Morgan. He married Mary Jane Cavanaugh. He later married Allene Perkins in 1974 in Rock Island, Ill.

He graduated from Clinton High School and St. Louis College of Mortuary Science.

He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II as a CB in the Pacific Theater. His campaigns included Okinawa.

He was employed with Pape Funeral Home for 20 years. He retired as a lab technician from Archer Daniels Midland in 1989.

Survivors include his wife, Allene, of Clinton; six daughters, Linda (David) Yeager of Clinton, Pamela Prunty of Clinton, Claudia (John) Else of Toledo, Iowa, Rita Morgan of Monticello, Joan (Jay) Lauritzen of Clinton and Diana Morgan of Puyallup, Wash.; two sons, Mark Morgan of Iowa City and Steven Morgan of Montrose, Colo.; two stepdaughters, Sharon (Dan) Geerts of Thomson, Ill., and Karon (Mike) Drevyanko of Clinton; 23 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy Koepp of Clinton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife.
