Roman E. Meyers

Visitation: 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Prince of Peace Parish.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Anthony Herold officiating.

CLINTON — Roman E. Meyers, 96, of Clinton, died Monday at the Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton.

Burial will be at a later date.

He was born Aug. 12, 1909, to Louis and Elizabeth Meyers in Hartington, Neb. He married Lois Seuser in 1942. They moved to Clinton in 1953.

He attended North Dakota State University.

He was the district electric operating superintendent with Interstate Power Co. In 1976, he became mayor of Clinton. During his administration, the City Hall was renovated, the flood control levee was started and the idea of a city manager was developed.

He was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Linda (John) Donelson of Iowa City and Mary Meyers and Paul (Sondra) Meyers, both of Clinton; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joan and Gretchen; and one brother, Bill.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to the American Heart Association or Prince of Peace schools.
