Albert Witt

Visitation: 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Carson and Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, Maquoketa.

MAQUOKETA — Albert F. Witt, 79, of Maquoketa, died Tuesday at his home.

Cremation rites will be accorded following visitation. Private burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery at a later date.

He was born Nov. 22, 1926, in Clinton to Albert F. and Mary E. Hutchinson Witt. He married Velma E. Frandsen on June 15, 1947, in Maquoketa.

He was a 1944 graduate of Lyons High School and then attended Coe College, Cedar Rapids.

He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force, he worked with A&P Grocery stores in Clinton and Cedar Rapids from 1945 to 1958. He then became a machinist and inspector with Rockwell Collins, Cedar Rapids, working there from 1958 until retiring to Maquoketa in 1987.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Maquoketa, and Jackson County Public Hospital’s Auxiliary.

Survivors include his wife; children, Jeffrey (Susan) Witt of Spring Lake Park, Minn., Gregory (Nancy) Witt of Davenport and Julie (Daniel) Meyer of Spokane, Wash.; six grandchildren; and one brother, Ramon (Karen) Witt of Longmont, Colo.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church’s elevator fund.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
