Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at New Hope Lutheran Church, Clinton, with the Rev. Michael C. Brewer officiating.

CLINTON — Paul Garland Knudson, 87, of Clinton, died Friday at Mercy North Hospital.

Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery with military honors accorded by Clinton AMVETS Post 28.

Pallbearers will be Loren Knudson, Nolan Knudson, Dennis Andersen, Dennis Heath, Ron Rockwell and Ron Andresen.

He was born June 1, 1919, in Shawmut, Mont., to Maurice and Ruby Green Knudson. He married Alice C. Rosenberg on Jan. 27, 1946 in Clinton.

He was a 1940 graduate of Clinton High School.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in the 39th Combat Engineers Regiment in battles in North Africa and Sicily, Italy. He received a Purple Heart for wounds received near Anzio, Italy.

He was a union carpenter working for Ole Jorgenson and Sons and for Chris Michaelsen. He also was employed with Dupont for more than 30 years.

He was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church, the American Legion and served as secretary/treasurer with the 39th Combat Engineers Regiment Reunion Group.

Survivors include his wife, Alice of Clinton; three sons, Larry (Patrice) Knudson of Clinton, David (Sharon) Knudson of DeWitt and Randy Knudson of Austin, Texas; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Knudson of Billings, Mont.; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or New Hope Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and one grandchild.
