The funeral will be 10 a.m. Nov. 5 in Delmar United Methodist Church for Mae D. McDonald, 82, of Delmar, who died Saturday in her home.
The Rev. Nathan Nordine will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Schultz-McGinnis Funeral Home, DeWitt. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Mrs. McDonald was born Nov. 15, 1909 in Davenport, to Henry and Bertha Stueben Swartz. She married Donald G. McDonald, June 2, 1932, in Davenport. He died Dec. 18, 1991. She attended the Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls, and had taught at the rural schools in LeClaire, Scott and Sheridan Townships, often walking to teach.
Mrs. McDonald and her husband farmed in DeWitt Township for 10 years and then moved to their home east of Delmar, where they farmed for 30 years, retiring to Delmar in 1971. She was a member of the Delmar United Methodist Church, where she had been the organist for 33 years, was a member of the Ruth Circle and United Methodist Women. She had attended weekly Bible study for 12 years. She was a member of the Bloomfield Township Homemakers and enjoyed the country.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Elizabeth L.) Bundy of Wenatchee, Wash., and Mrs. Donald (Carol A.) Mattson of Indianapolis, Indiana; two sons, Donald B. of Delmar, and John C. of DeWitt; eight grandchildren; a sister, Louise A. Swartz of Davenport; and a brother, Bert E. Swartz of Davenport. She was preceded in death by a sister.
