John LeRoy Miller, 68, of Delmar died Monday, Feb. 25, at Clinton Retirement Village.
Services were Friday, March 1, 1 p.m. at Haylock-O'Hara and Lahey Funeral Home, Maquoketa, with the Rev. Francis Bass officiating. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Maquoketa, with military honors.
Mr. Miller was born Aug. 29, 1922, in rural Spragueville to Russell W. and Winifred Gannon Miller. He married Corrine Mootz November 8, 1949, in Springbrook.
He was owner and operator of Miller Electric, Delmar, retiring in 1979. He had also worked at Clinton Engines, Maquoketa, and for Stolphers Industries, DeWitt. Memberships included St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Delmar, and the American Legion Post #590 of Spragueville. He had served as a Delmar city councilman and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife of Delmar; seven daughters, Cheryl (Mrs. Dan) Shireman and Jacalyn (Mrs. Robert) Eberhart of Maquoketa, Lou Ann (Mrs. Daryl) Eberhart of Delmar, Vicki (Mrs. Roger) Schmitt of Janesville, Wis., DaVonne (Mrs. Joe) Eberhart of York, Pa., Jane Miller of Dubuque and Nancy (Mrs. Dave) Kloft of Maquoketa; 12 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two sisters, Marcella (Mrs. Albert) Rohse of Donahue and Mildred L. Miller of San Pedro, Calif.; and three brothers, James and David of Maquoketa and Paul of Preston.
He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
A memorial fund has been established.
