Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lahey Funeral Home, Maquoketa.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Revs. Gerald Gjerde and Ron Rafferty officiating.

MAQUOKETA — Dixie L. Hankemeier, 55, of Maquoketa, died Tuesday at Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa.

She was born July 7, 1950, in Maquoketa to Louis “Bud” and Shirley Bickford Eckelberg. She married Ronald A. Hankemeier on Aug. 9, 1975, at First Lutheran Church, Maquoketa.

She attended Preston and Maquoketa schools before graduating in 1968. She then graduated from Stewarts Cosmetology College in 1969.

She worked with Stewarts Northgate and Von Maur. She was a secretary for Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church and also was employed with Maquoketa Middle School and Wal-Mart, Maquoketa.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Maquoketa, and Thrivent Insurance for Lutherans.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Amanda Hankemeier of Maquoketa; two sons, Jefferson Hankemeier of Minneapolis and Joshua Hankemeier of Urbana, Ill.; and her parents, Louis “Bud” and Shirley Eckelberg of Maquoketa.

Memorials may be given to Gilda’s Club in the Quad Cities.
