Leland Leon Kerkove

Visitation: 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Law-Jones Funeral Home.

SERVICES: 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

NORTH FREEDOM, Wis. — Leland Leon Kerkove, 73, of North Freedom, died Monday at his home.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, Savanna, Ill.

He was born May 21, 1932, in Haysville to Leland Sr. and Henriette Schumaker Kerkove. He married Blanche Tack on July 24, 1953, in Savanna.

He graduated from Savanna High School in 1950.

In his early years, he worked for local farmers. He also sat pins at a bowling alley, worked at the Savanna Ice House and Savanna Army Depot. He also was a commercial fisherman. He worked for 15 years at Interstate Power, Savanna and Dubuque. He and his wife also farmed. He started working at Ho-Chunk C asino in the janitorial department in August of 2003.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Kelly Robinson of Hillpoint, Wis., five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial fund has been established in his name.
