CLINTON — Sister Aloise Kevane, OSF, 88, of Clinton, died Wednesday at the Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton.

Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be relatives, friends and members of the Sisters of St. Francis.

She was born May 28, 1917, in Rembrandt to James Morris and Genevieve Margaret O’Neill Kevane.

She graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Storm Lake.

She earned an A.A. degree from Mount St. Clare College, Clinton; Bachelor of Science in nursing education; and Master of Science in nursing education, both at St. Louis University.

She joined the Sisters of St. Francis on June 13, 1935, and professed her final vows on June 19, 1941.

She had a standard elementary teaching certificate and registered nurse and Iowa Nursing licenses.

She taught students in elementary school for six years. She taught at St. Patrick’s School, Clinton, from 1939 to 1943 and Victor and Toluca, Ill. After completing her university studies, she served for 10 years as director of the school of nursing at Mercy Hospital, Burlington. She also served at St. Francis Hospital, Grinnell, as supervisor of medical and surgical nursing from 1964 to 1969. She was an instructor for two years at the St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, Joliet, Ill. She worked at the former Mount Alverno Home for the Aged, Clinton, and also at the Alverno Health Care Facility. After retiring in 1988, she provided nursing care to sisters at the Mount St. Clare Convent.

She moved to The Alverno Heatlh Care Facility in 1995.

Survivors include one brother, Donald Kevane of Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy (Carl) O’Gara of El Cajon, Calif.; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
