Esther M. Nast

Esther M. Nast, age 82, of Savanna, Illinois died March 19, 2006 in Savanna. The visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, March 21 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, March 22 at 10:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church in Savanna with the Reverend Michael Wey officiating. The burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Mt. Carroll. Pallbearers include Allan DeSpain, Jack Massie, Lucas DeSpain, Mark Merboth, Josef Krajnovich, and Mark DeWitte. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.lawjonesfuneralhome.com. Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church, Savanna, Illinois in Esther’s name.

Mrs. Nast was born February 17, 1924 in Savanna to Elmer J. and Eva (Heath) Adams. She married Leo L. Nast on March 24, 1946 in Savanna. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was employed by the Milwaukee Railroad for forty-two years in Savanna and Chicago, Ill. Her last position held was road master clerk in 1986. She liked to read, play cards, finish crossword puzzles and vacation in Florida for the winter. She took pride in the Savanna community where she lived for eighty-two years.

Survivors include a brother-in-law, Phil W. DeSpain, sister-in-law Doris Nast Spencer and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was extremely fond of her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and two sisters, Evelyn Smith of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. and Julianne DeSpain of Savanna, as well as brother-in-law Jerome Schmidt of Lake Geneva, and two nephews, John Reed of Lake Geneva and Randy DeSpain of Savanna.
