Donald H. Behrens

STERLING, Ill. — Donald H. Behrens, 79, of rural Sterling, died Sunday.

Burial will military rites will follow funeral services at Hopkins Township Cemetery.

He was born Feb. 17, 1927, in Galt, Ill., to Gerhard and Carrie Schultz Behrens. He married Lola Jean Dirks on Oct. 22, 1950.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He farmed in Hopkins Township in Whiteside County, Ill.

He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church where he served on the church council for many years. He also served as caretaker and sexton of Hopkins Township Cemetery for many years. He was a member of the Monday night men’s league in Morrison.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Susan (Randy Betts) Boelkins and Dianne (Ed Ritchie) Behrens, both of Morrison; one sister, Clara Cordes of Sterling; one granddaughter; and one great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church or to KSB Hospice.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters and one nephew.
