Dorothy Petersen

Dorothy J. Petersen, 87, of Clinton, died on Sunday at Westwing Place in DeWitt.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, Clinton, with the Rev. Jennifer Henry officiating. Burial will follow in Elvira Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. to service time Friday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Kent and Kyle Bennis, Douglas and Daryn Cain, Brigham and Abram Tubbs and Theodore Myatt.

Honorary pallbearers are Cawyn Cain, Jane Bowman, Julie Kapsch, Jennifer Pendergast and Will and Lily Petersen.

She was born Sept. 13, 1918, in Bryant to John C. and Hilda Feddersen Gradert. She married William D. Petersen on March 17, 1937, in Clinton. He died in 1980.

She was a 1936 graduate of Miles High School.

She worked as a sales clerk for more than 30 years for Guzzardo’s and Sears.

She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Zion Women’s Circle Organization as well as the Hawthorn P.T.A.

Survivors include four daughters, Joyce (Richard) Bennis and Carol (Donald) Cain, both of Delmar, Myrna (Alan) Tubbs of DeWitt and Beverly (Larry) Myatt of Greensboro, Ga.; one son, Jeffrey (Susan) Petersen of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or Westwing Place.

She was preceded in death by; her parents, husband, two great-grandchildren, one brother and one sister.
