Reynolds Keeney

Reynolds O. Keeney, 79, of Maquoketa, died Thursday at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, in Iowa City.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Carson and Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Andrew Cemetery.

He was born Aug. 23, 1926, in Jackson County to Raymond and Gladys Fuller Keeney. He married Onalee Paulsen on Dec. 7, 1952, in Elwood.

He was a 1945 graduate of Andrew High School.

He first farmed in the Andrew area from 1952 until moving to the Delmar area in 1966. He then worked with Archer Daniels Midland, Clinton, as a general laborer for more than 23 years before retiring in 1989. He and his wife moved to Maquoketa in 1999.

He attended Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Maquoketa.

Survivors include his wife; children, Neale Keeney of Maquoketa, Larry (Sherry) Keeney of Elwood and John (Julie) Keeney of Maquoketa; five grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 13 stepgreat-grandchildren; four sisters, Jeanette Gnade of Maquoketa, Joyce Regan of Zwingle, Mrs. Wanda (Butch) Bormann of LaMotte and Mrs. Lois (Loras) Nemmers of Dubuque; and many nieces and nephews.

A Reynolds O. Keeney Memorial Fund has been established.
