Don H. McPherson

MAQUOKETA — Don H. McPherson, 84, of Maquoketa, died Tuesday at his home.

There will be a celebration of his life at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Carson and Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa, with the Rev. Ruth Ann Scott officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa, where full military rites will be accorded by Maquoketa American Legion Post 75, Maquoketa VFW Post 3633 O’Connor-Regenwether and Andrew AMVETS Post 62.

He was born Nov. 1, 1921, in Jackson County to Daniel Harrison and Virginia Esther Owen McPherson. He married Betty Watters on Nov. 22, 1946, in Camanche.

He was educated in rural Jackson County country schools.

He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

He farmed in rural Maquoketa. He also sold Naeve seed corn and raised and sold feeder pigs.

He was a member of Maquoketa American Legion Post 75 and the Jackson County Farm Bureau Association.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Bonnie (Adrian) Browne of Maquoketa; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Virginia Werden of Waukon.

A Don H. McPherson Memorial Fund has been established.
