Victor A. “Zeke” Benson

Victor A. “Zeke” Benson, 64, of Thomson, died Friday at Mercy North Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Thomson. The Rev. Paul Judd, pastor of Thomson United Methodist Church, will be officiating. Burial will be in the Lower York Cemetery, Thomson. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Thomson.

He was born July 19, 1941, in Aurora, Ill., to Leonard Axel and Edith Ida Benson. He married Patricia “Pat” Ellis on Feb. 9, 1963, in Batavia, Ill.

He graduated from Batavia High School in 1959.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1962.

He was a dairy farmer in Wasco, Ill., and later worked 33 years as an electrical lineman with the city of Batavia until retiring in 1996.

He was an active member of Savanna Moose Lodge 1095 and Savanna V.F.W. Post 2223, and was master mason of the Batavia Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Brian (Lauri) Benson of Batavia; one daughter, Mrs. Kimberly (Butch) Mobley of Thomson; three grandchildren; and two brothers, James (Sue) Benson of Batavia and Robert (Shirley) Benson of Remsen.

Memorials may be made to Savanna Moose Lodge 1095 in his name.
