Adele D. Berge

Adele D. Berge, 95, of Lanark, died Saturday at the Carroll County Good Samaritan Center, Mount Carroll, Ill.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lanark United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, Ill. The Rev. Kathryn Ling will be officiating. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lanark United Methodist Church.

She was born March 13, 1910, in Clyde Township, rural Morrison, to Clarence W. and Maggie M. Kennedy Beswick. She married Walter D. Berge on Feb. 10, 1932, in Morrison. He died in 1973.

She was educated in rural Whiteside County grade schools. She graduated from Morrison High School in 1927. She then attended Northern Illinois Teachers College, DeKalb, Ill.

She taught in rural Whiteside County schools for several years. She and her husband farmed in the Morrison area until 1951 when they bought a farm in rural Carroll County.

She was a member of Lanark United Methodist Church, the church’s Hope Circle, United Methodist Women and served as member of the church’s administrative board.

Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn Berge of Lanark, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Phyllis Forth of Chadwick, Ill.; one brother, DeWitt (Betty) Beswick of Morrison; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials will be established.
