MAQUOKETA — Richard G. Gisel, 75, of Maquoketa, died Friday at his home.

There will be a celebration of his life at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Salem Lutheran Church, Andrew, with the Rev. Gaylor Nelson officiating. There will be no public visitation. Private burial will be in the Andrew Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded by Maquoketa American Legion Post 75, Maquoketa VFW Post 3633 O’Connor-Regenwether and Andrew AMVETS Post 62. The Carson and Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa, is in charge of the arrangements.

He was born March 16, 1930, in Maquoketa to George John and Helen Follett Gisel. He married Onalee Ann Bollinger on Dec. 24, 1951, in Andrew.

He was a 1947 graduate of Andrew High School. He then graduated from the Milwaukee School of Engineering with a degree in electrical engineering.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

He was an electrical engineer with Collins Radio, Cedar Rapids, for 12 years. He then was a licensed real estate broker, first working in Cedar Rapids and then in Maquoketa for more than 30 years.

He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Andrew, Andrew AMVETS Post 62, Maquoketa American Legion Post 75 and the Hiawatha Optimist Club.

Survivors include his wife; and children, Scott (Lisa) Gisel of Milan, Ill., and Valerie Gisel of Schaumburg, Ill.

A Richard G. Gisel Memorial Fund has been established.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
