Mildred Esther Ritchie

CLINTON — Mildred Esther Ritchie, 89, of Clinton, died Sunday at Wyndcrest Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at First United Presbyterian Church, Clinton, with the Rev. Connie Peake officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Sabula. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lemke Funeral Homes, South Chapel, 2600 Lincoln Way.

Pallbearers will be family members.

She was born April 11, 1916, in Sparta, N.J., to Joseph and Edna Hammel Decker. She married Justice Leroy Baker. He died in 1967. She later Keith E. Ritchie in 1990. He died in 2002.

She graduated from high school. She took accounting and bookkeeping classes at Clinton Community College during the late 1950s.

She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, head of deaconesses and helped in the nursery and office. She also was a member of a Bible study group and church circle. She was a member of RSVP and received an award for having volunteered more than 500 hours.

She worked with Everett Eslinger, a certified public accountant, in the Plaza Building in Clinton until she retired.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Valerie (Robert) Watson of Arlington Heights, Ill., and Mrs. Karen (Ronald) Benesh of Rock Island, Ill.; two sons, Kim (Susan) Barker of Low Moor and Craig Barker of Clinton; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Laura (Tom) Wilkeson of Florida; one stepson, Ed Ritchie of Sabula; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund will be established.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one daughter and one great-grandchild.
