MOUNT CARROLL, Ill. — Marion Oliver “Mike” Strautz, 87, of Mount Carroll, died Sunday at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Mount Carroll.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mount Carroll. The Rev. David Vidler, pastor of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mount Carroll, will be officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Mount Carroll. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
He was born Dec. 19, 1918, in Mount Carroll to Frederick and Bertha Appel Strautz. He married Arlene Schroth on Oct. 13, 1951, in Mount Carroll.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of Mount Carroll American Legion, Savanna (Ill.) Moose Lodge and the Intellectual Hog Roasting Association.
He owned and operated Strautz Plumbing and Heating, Mount Carroll, for many years before retiring in 1985. He was a Ward 2 alderman for Mount Carroll.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Jeanne Strautz of Lanark, Ill.; two sons, Michael (Donna) Strautz of Freeport, Ill., and Gary Strautz of Portsmouth, R.I.; and three grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
