The Last Will and Testament of John Lenaghan

Monday, August 10, 1857

The last Will and Testament of John Lenaghan Lyons, Clinton Co. Iowa May 18, 1857.
I the undersigned do on this day with a perfectly sound mind declare by my very last will and testament that,

1st. All my just debts and funeral expenses be duly paid & satisfied as soon as can be after my decease.

2nd. That one hundred and fifty dollars be given to Father Gear (?), or his successor in office for the benefit of the Catholic School in Lyons.

3rd. That the remainder of my property be divided into four equal shares and to be distributed in the following manner. Two shares to my sister Margaret, one share to my brother Patrick & one share to my sister Catharine.

Be it remembered that on this 10th day of August A.D. 1857, the written instrument was duly proven to be the last Will and Testament of John Lenaghan, by the subscribing witness hereto. Given under my hand and county seal at Dewitt this 10 day of August 1857.
