Last Will and Testament of Jesse M. Tallman

In the name of God Amen:
I Jesse H. Tallman of Clinton County State of Iowa being of sound mind do hereby make and declare this to be my last will and testament hereby revoking all other wills previously made by me to wit as follows:

I do hereby grant to my wife Catharine M. Tallman the entire and undisputed control of any and all property of whatever kind I am now or may be possessed for her own use during her natural life.

At the death of my wife Catharine M. Tallman all personal property of whatever kind belonging to my estate shall decend to the legal heirs of my wife Catharine M. Tallman and all other property shall be equally divided among my children.

I do hereby direct that as soon after my death as may be convenient my wife Catherine M. Tallman shall pay to my daughter Luella T. Devenport the sum of One Hundred & fifty (150) dollars and also to my daughter Adella T. Powers the sum of fifty ($50) dollars for services rendered by them at home after they had they had reached their majority.

I do further direct that my wife Catharine M. Tallman shall give to each of my two sons Alonzo W. Tallman and Jesse M. Tallman one young horse for their use and benefit forever upon their reaching their majority.

I do hereby appoint my wife Catharine M. Tallman as sole executor of this my last will and testament without bonds and any person or persons mentioned in this instrument who shall resort to any legal contest to break or destroy the same shall be forever barred from any of it’s provisions or benefits.

Signed & sealed in the presence of the undersigned on this the 19th of April A. D. 1887 at Folletts Station Clinton County State of Iowa.

I William Kreim, clerk of the District Court in and for said County do hereby certify that on this day at the April Term A. D. 1887 of said Court the will and instrument in writing hereunto annexed and bearing date in the 14th day of April 1887 was duly proved before and allowed by said court as and for the last will and testament of the real and personal estate of Jesse H. Tallman late of said County deceased and was by said Court ordered to be recorded as such will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of the court at my office in Clinton in said County this 23rd day of April A. D. 1887.
