The Clinton Weekly Herald Saturday December 9, 1893 Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Walsh and Mrs. Carroll Royally Entertain Their Guests From Thursday's Daily The handsome residence of Mr. E.C. Walsh, 315 Fifth avenue, was the scene last night of a brilliant reception, by Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Walsh and Mrs. Carroll, mother of Mrs. Walsh. The house was beautifully illuminated and decorated for the occasion, the prevailing colors being white and yellow. Evergreens, ferns, potted palms and yellow chrysanthemums were used everywhere in profusion, skillfully and artistically arranged over doorways, and also draped in such a manner as to form a floral lower, in one room, which screened from view Hoffman's harp orchestra. The home of Mr. Walsh, which is a model of architectural beauty externally, is also one of the most conveniently arranged houses in Clinton and is beautifully furnished in exquisite good taste. Its complete and careful arrangement was the admiration of many of the guests last night, who for the first time had been afforded the opportunity of carefully inspecting the model home. An excellent supper was served in the dining room by Davenport caterers, and each guest received as a souvenir a napkin to which was pinned, with a miniature gold sword, a yellow chrysanthemum. Misses Temple, Watkins and May Thayer assisted in receiving the guests.
