The Clinton Age, Clinton, Iowa, January 21, 1876

DROWNED WHILE SKATING – Geo. H. Hall, son of Wm. P. Hall Esq., of Fulton, drowned while skating on Cat Tail Slough just above Fulton on last Saturday afternoon. He had gone alone, and had been missed at supper time, search being at once instituted and continued without success until Sunday noon, when the body of young Hall was found in the slough in twelve feet of water, the search being directed in that spot by the finding of his cap on the ice. The lad was about fifteen years old and was the only son of his parents, who were grief stricken beyond description over the sad occurrence. The funeral occurred on Tuesday afternoon.
