Arrested – Very much to the surprise and disgust of everybody here about, Mr. J. Tompkins, of this city, was arrested one day this week for the murder of Mrs. Alger. It is well known that Tompkins had devoted a good deal of time in ferreting out the murderers, and it may be that his arrest is one of malicious prosecution. But in accordance with our custom we withhold comments until the evidence shall have been procured.
