Bruce, I should have said the McGregor papers, not just the North Iowa Times. I venture to say that you can inquire about the probate papers at the court house in Elkader. If you don't live in the vicinity, you could give them a call. I don't know their policy re: getting copies if they have them.

As far as I know the probate papers aren't online. Another place to check with is the Clayton County Genealogy Society in Elkader. They have a FB page:
https://www.facebook.com/claytoncountygenealogicalsociety/ if you can't visit in person. Very helpful people volunteering there.
