______________________________________________I may be able to help you a little. Ernest Ash had a daughter, Blanche; sons, Lawrence, Austin, Leo, and I think there was another, but I can't recall his name. Blanche married by uncle, Richard Matthews, and I stayed at their home many times while growing up. Lawrence had two children, Marlene and Larry. Marlene was a couple years older than I but close enough that she would come to stay at Aunt Blanche and Uncle Dick's when I was there. Blanche and Dick never had any children. They lived on a farm northeast of Edgewood, Iowa, until about 1951, when they moved to the Jesse (Dick's father) Matthews farm north of Earlville.
Larry died in Dec. 2001 of cancer. I can send his obituary if you would like it. I think Marlene lives in Marion, IA, and a Richard D. Barker lives at [address deleted by administrator] Marion, Iowa, [phone # deleted by administrator]. I think this might be her husband as I know she married a Richard Barker.
Here are a couple more addresses of Ash's living at Colesburg, Iowa, which I think might be descendants of Clifford Ash. I know he had a son named Clay.
Clay & Wanda Ash, [address & phone # deleted by administrator]Danny & Linda Ash, [address & phone # deleted by administrator](Might be Clay's son)
To help you with the County division, Iowa Highway #3 is the dividing line in Edgewood. North side is Clayton County, and south side is Delaware County.
I grew up in Delaware County. My father was born and raised in Clayton County and moved to Delaware County as a young man. I still have many relatives living in the Edgewood/Colesburg area.
