Query re: Watkins family (ca.1840-1849) mentioned in IAGenWeb Odds & Ends. I am researching the Watkins family of Clayton Co. IA mid-1800s to mid-1900s. Pls. refer to: http://sharylscabin.com/Clayton/misc/OldSettlersReunion_1901.
The "Old Settlers' Reunion" article states that Watkins daughter was accidently shot & killed. Watkins father then "disposed of his gun to the Hines family in whose possession it still is . . ."
Can anyone help w/ info re: the above-mentioned Watkins or Hines families? I am aware of the Watkins interred in Clayton Co.'s Monona City & National Cemeteries. Thank you very much. Lynn Albers
