Clayton Co. Court Records

Hello, I'm researching from Canada and need some direction.

On this site I found a reference to a Clayton Co. court record that I am interested in getting copies of. (Not copies of the index, but of the court records or judgements themselves).

Index to District Court 1848-1891 - FHL US/CAN Film #1671515
No. 480
Plaintiff: Chrisholm, Robert B.
Defendant: Van Valkenburge, Loyal & Elizabeth
File Date: no date
Judgement Book & Page: E/177

So this FHL film I think is only the index. Is it the Clayton County Clerk of Court Office that would have archived these records? Although there was no date in the record, judgement book D was around 1870, so this action likely took place between 1870 and 1891.

Would the court office look up these files for a fee, or should I hire a researcher?

Thanks for any suggestions (and thanks to the volunteers for these transcriptions online)!

Lisa
