Elkader Register, Fri. morning, 12 Mar. 1897. Local Scrap Bag columns.

Peter McDermott, an old veteran soldier, died at the home of his nephew, James McDermott, at Osborne, Wednesday morning. Deceased had been a resident of Cox Creek twp. for many years, and for some time past has been in poor health. The funeral takes place today at Communia. He has fought his last fight, may he rest in peace.

The remains of Peter McDermott, of Osborne, were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery two miles east of here.
