Elkader Register, Fri. morning, 26 Mar. 1897. Local Scrap Bag column.

Thursday, March 18th, death visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Molumby and took the spirit of their little daughter Marie, aged 18 months. The little one had suffered an illness of some seven weeks and the angel's visit was not entirely unexpected. He said "suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not." It is hard work to persuade ourselves that in parting from our loved ones it may be for the best - but it must be our only consolation. The funeral services were held Sunday at St. Joseph's in the presence of many sorrowing kindred and friends, Rev. F. J. Reilly officiating.
