James Lowell Miller Sr., 67, Elkader, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died May 12, 1999, at his home at 302 Poplar Street in Elkader, following a long illness. He was born July 8, 1931, in Albia, Iowa, and was a son of the late Dexter Miller and Nola Pinkston. He was a veteran of Korea serving in the Army and worked construction as a self-contractor.
He is survived by his wife Suzy (Kramer) Miller of Elkader; two sons, James Jr. and his wife Deb, Cedar Rapids, and David of New Orleans; four daughters, Barbara Satkamp and her husband Bill, Cedar Rapids, Debb Miller, Milwaukee, Wis., Pam Joyner and her husband Rick, Waterloo, and Bertha Hansel, California; 8 grandchildren; four brothers, Paul of Tennessee, Art of Utah, Kenny of Florida, and Dean of Iowa; and a sister, Millie of Utah.
Private memorial services were held with Leonard Funeral Home, Elkader, in charge.
