Floyd Cook, 21, of McGregor, died last Saturday while in service with the army in Korea, according to a telegram received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Cook, McGregor. The communication from the war department gave no further details but said that a letter would follow.

The McGregor serviceman had been in Korea since April 1948. Two of his brothers are also in the service, Clarence with the army in Japan, and William in the navy in California.

Pvt. Floyd Raymond Cook, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Cook, was drowned March 5th, in Korea while serving with an army boat crew.

The body arrived at Marquette on Thursday, April 14th, accompanied by his brother, Pvt. Clarence Cook, who for two years has been in the army of occupation in Japan. He was given leave to come home with his brother's body.

Military services under the auspices of the Marquette Legion were held at St. Paul's Lutheran church in McGregor at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16th. The Rev. F. Starke officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Grove cemetery at McGregor.

Pvt. Floyd Cook was born April 25, 1928, at Marquette, and was graduated from the Marquette High School in January, 1948.

He enlisted in the army March 3, 1948, and went into training at Ft. Knox, Ky. He returned home on furlough and on April 8, 1948, married Jean Zahn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Zahn, of Marquette.

On May 12, 1948, he went overseas to Korea, while his wife remained at home with her parents.

Surviving besides his widow, parents and brother, Clarence, are five brothers, Albert, of Dubuque; James Jr., in the United States Navy at San Diego, Calif.; William, of McGregor; Robert and Marlin, at home; and two sisters, Virginia and Judity, also at home.
