George J. Hefel Sr., 74, well known farmer of North Buena Vista, Ia., died suddenly at his farm house at 7 a.m. Monday.The remains were transferred from the Behr Funeral home to the farm residence Monday where friends may call after 7 p.m. The funeral will be held from the home to the Immaculate Conception Church, North Buena Vista, Ia. at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
He was born Dec. 9, 1874, at Centralia moving when a child to N. Buena Vista, where he has since resided. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and the Holy Name Society of that parish.
In November of 1900, he was married to Catherine Dean at Holy Cross, who died in 1923. In June of 1924 he was married to Miss Mary Cook, who survives, as do the following.
Three daughters: Mrs. Henry (Bertha) Ludovissy, N. Buena Vista, Mrs. Charles (Catherine) Coyle, Epworth and Mrs. Rose MaryCoyle, Epworth: four sons, John J. and Thomas, N. Buena Vista: three sister, Mrs. Anne Grieve, Mrs. Lena Schiel, and Mrs. Ed (Minnie) Viertal, all of Dubuque: and three brothers John and Albert, N. Buena Vista, and Martin of Dubuque .
He was preceded by his first wife, two sons, two daughters, one sister, and one brother.
