George F. Pixler

Rites Held For Geo. F. Pixler

George F. Pixler, the son of George W. Pixler and his wife, Maie Harmon Pixler, was born in Grand Meadow township, Clayton county on March 17, 1895. He was baptized in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Postville, by the Rev. Schmidt on January 10, 1921 and confirmed by the Rev. Finck on June 24, 1928. He died at the Veterans' Hospital in Iowa City on March 30, 1962 at the age of 67 years and 13 days.

He was united in marriage to Marie Mueller on January 19, 1921. They farmed in the Postville and St. Olaf areas for several years. For many years they made their home in Dubuque where he was employed by the Dubuque Packing Company for 16 years. They retired and made their home in McGregor for the past two years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, James R. and Ernest E. of Postville, Roy R. of Monona, Gerald H. of Eastman, Wisconsin, and Lester of Postville; and one sister, Ina A. Schultz of Davenport.

He is survived by his wife; one brother, Ralph C. of Gainesville, Florida; and other relatives and friends.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Dubuque, and a member of the American Legion. He was a veteran of World War I, having served in the Marine Corps.

Funeral services were conducted at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Postville on April 3, by the Rev. Charles E. Witt, pastor. Burial was in Postville cemetery.
