Prominent Farmer is Stricken This Week--Rites Friday.

Born: July 13, 1873 in Jefferson Twonship, near Guttenberg.
Died: February 15, 1944 at the farm home.
Burried at: Guttenberg City Cemeter, Guttenberg, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be held this Friday afternoon from Trinity Luthern Church for Ferdinand Henry Chistopher Thiese, 70, well known farmer. Mr. Thiese died February 15 shortly before noon at his home near following a brief illness.

Services Friday Afternoon

The services at the Church will be at 2:00 o'clock and will be preceded by services at the home at 1:15 p.m. They will be in charge of Rev. Frese, pastor of the church, and burial will be in the City cemetery.
Born July 13, 1873, on the Clayton County farm of William Thiese, pioneer settler here, Mr. Thiese was married to Wihelmina Wesemann of Guttenberg at the St. John's church on February 16, 1898.

Lived in Guttenberg

Following the marriage the couple lived in Guttenberg for a year before moving to the farm on Clayton ridege where they made their home until the death of Mrs. Thiese on November 1, 1935.
Since that time Mr. Thiese continued to make his home on the farm and was a charter member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
Mr. Thiese is survived by six children, Mrs Alma Holtz of Maynard, Mrs Louisa Schlake of Waukon, Alfred and Emil of McGregor, Ernst of Clayton and Ferdinand Jr., of Guttenberg. Eighteen grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive, one grandchild dying in infancy.
Mr. Thiese is also survived by four brothers and two sisters, August Thiese of White Lake, South Dakota; Herman, Otto, and George of Guttenberg; Mrs Louisa Miller of Guttenberg and Mrs. Kate Bergman of Rockwell.
