Clifton Bernhard Dies at Reno, Nev.
Clifton Bernhard, 49, of 1424 Silverada Blve., Reno, Nev., died Wednesday, Nov. 17, in a Reno hospital.
Funeral services were held at Reno with burial in Golden Gate National cemetery in San Bruno, Calif.
He was born March 15, 1916, at Monona, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bernhard. He attended public schools in Monona and was a sheet metal worker in Cedar Rapids before enlisting in the Air Force in 1940.
Mr. Bernhard served in the European theater of World War II and in the Korean conflict. He was retired from the Air Force Nov. 30, 1954, at Travis Air Force Base, Calif.
He was married to the former Mrs. Albert Wagner, Aug. 12, 1942, at Camp Hoan, Calif. They moved to Reno last March.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 6 sisters, Mrs. Kermit (Ethel) Klinge and Mrs. (Burdette) Wold of Monona, Mrs. William (Ruth) Meyer of McGregor, Mrs. George (Viola) Alderson of Wadena, Mrs. William (Georgine) Schmidt of LaCrosse, Wis., and Mrs. Dave (Beverly) Reque of Cedar Rapids; and 3 brothers, Howard and Gordon of Monona and Clarence of Garnavillo.
