Funeral services for Elmer Wesender, 40, will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Emanuel's Lutheran church with the Rev. M.O. Jahr of this place and the Rev. W.A. Adix of Manchester in charge of the service. Burial will be in the Strawberry Point cemetery. The Gill Funeral Service is in charge.
Elmer Wesender, born February 7, 1899 on a farm near Aurora, was the son of John B. and Ida Mary Falck Wesender. He was bapized March 12, 1899, in Aurora by the Rev. Zilinger and confirmed at Dundee. He attended high school at Aurora. He took a course in embalming which occupation he followed the rest of his life. He worked for eight years in the Franklin Furniture Store of Strawberry Point and he worked several years in Ford Dodge, Webster City, and Davenort. Since February of this year he was located with the Franklin Furniture Store of Manchester. He never married. He enjoyed good health until the day before his death. He became ill Friday afternoon, yet not thought serious until Saturday morning when he was found in a coma.
He passed away at 12:10 p.m. Saturday afternoon, September 2nd. He was a young man of good habits and an excellent character and the community is greatly saddened by his untimely death.
Surviving are his mother of Garnavillo, his father having passed away twenty years ago; two sisters, Mrs. Herbert (Edith) Sfeege of Garnavillo and Mrs. Gerald (Lillian) Anderson of Chicago; and one brother, Lorenz of Davenport. He is also survived by one niece, Mavis Anderson, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
