James H. Looney, 65, was born August 28, 1926, at Luana IA; to parents Edward and Evelyn (Henkes) Looney. He died Friday, October 11, 1991, at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, WI.

A Mass of Resurrection concelebrated by the Rev. Hubert Boschert, S. J. and the Rev. Paul Nelson was held Monday, October 14, 1991, at St. Gabriel Archangel Catholic Church, Prairie du Chien, WI. Military honors were accorded. Burial was in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Monona, IA. Garrity Funeral Home, Prairie du Chien, WI, was in charge of arrangements.

He was a graduate of Postville High School and served three years in the army during the Korean War with 1½ years spent in Korea. He was employed for a time at the Luana Creamery.

August 28, 1957, he was married to June Lestina of Monona, IA, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, Postville. The couple lived in Waterloo where he worked for the Carnation Company. In 1961 they purchased a business in Clayton Center where they lived until 1979 when they moved to Prairie du Chien, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Edward, Kenneth and Ambrose.

He is survived by his wife, June, Prairie du Chien; two sons, Timothy, of Prairie du Chien, and Todd, of Winona, MN; a daughter, Lisa, of Austin, MN; four grandchildren, and one brother Raymond, of Postville, IA.

Casket bearers were Stan Looney, Mike Looney, Lee Ambrose, Brian Breitsprecher, Scott Ambrose and Carl Stickfort.
