Lubbers, Joyce June (Kruse) 1918-1988

Funeral services for Joyce June Lubbers were held Thursday, March 3, 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Farmersburg. Rev. Albert Hock officiated. Burial was in Farmersburg-Wagner Cemetery, Farmersburg, Iowa. Military services were conducted by American Legion Post 388, St. Olaf. Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, was in charge of services.

Joyce June Kruse Lubbers was born November 15, 1918, in Farmersburg to parents Henry and Augusta Behrens Kruse. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She received her education in the Farmersburg school and graduated from high school in 1936.

She entered nurses training at Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL. In 1944 she entered the army and served as a nurse in WW II and Korea. She made a career of the service attaining the rank of Major. She served in the army for 22 years. On August 14, 1970 she married Duane E. Lubbers at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She worked as a nurse at Prairie Memorial Hospital. The couple lived in Farmersburg and Mesa, AZ.

Joyce died at St. Luke's Hospital in Tempe, AZ Saturday, Feb. 27, 1988. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 388, St. Olaf, Iowa

Preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, Harold Kruse.

Surviving is her husband, Duane; two stepsons, Terry Lubbers, Elkader and William Lubbers, Dubuque; 4 step grandchildren; 2 brothers, Harvey Kruse, Palm Desert, CA, Harry Kruse, Rotondo West, FL; and 3 sisters, Marjorie Gerard, Stuart, FL, Margaret Kruse, Chicago, IL and Marilyn Schoenfeldt, Farmersburg.

Pallbearers were members of American Legion Post 388, St. Olaf.
